How It Works
- Applying was free and open to all. The 30 DJs on the ballot were selected from all applications, and each paid a $25 non-refundable entry fee.
- Online voting runs July 18 through July 24 at 11:59 PM Eastern — one vote per person per day.
- The top 12 by total votes advance to the live battle on Friday, July 31. The top 12 are announced Saturday, July 25.
- Fake or automated votes are removed. Repeat abuse disqualifies the DJ being helped.
The Live Battle
- 3 opening rounds of 4 DJs. 7-minute sets with hard time enforcement.
- The crowd votes by QR code after each round — one vote per phone.
- Round winners advance to a Final of 3 with 8-minute sets. Most votes in the Final wins.
- Ties go to a 60-second sudden-death set and a revote. All results are final.
Equipment
- Choose your weapon: two Technics 1200 turntables with the Pioneer DJM-S9, or the Pioneer DDJ-REV7. Both Serato ready.
- All sets are mixed live. Pre-recorded sets are disqualification.
- 90-second changeovers.
The Prize
- The winner becomes the official house DJ for Waka Flocka Flame at Diamondback Music Hall, August 29 — and takes over the decks on battle night until close.
